Coach John Bones Fassel knows how to coach up his special teams players Youth Andrew Whitworth Jersey , thats for sure. And this week was no different as Los Angeles Rams Safety Blake Countess was named as the NFC Special Team Player of the Week.Playing double duty, Countess (roster preview) scored his second career touchdown off Cory Littletons blocked punt that Blake recovered in the end zone. He also stepped in as the Rams returner after JoJo Natson broke his hand, averaging 25.5 yards per return not too shabby! Countess scored his first touchdown in 2017 against the Philadelphia Eagles (also a blocked punt). In youre shaky on on the past of 25 year-old Blake Countess, he played his college ball at Michigan and was a sixth-round pick in 2016 by the Philadelphia Eagles and was later cut and picked up by the Rams (practice squad) before the 2016 season began.Countess is turning out to be a valuable role player for the Rams this season, providing much needed depth in the battered secondary as well as the special teams unit, which has also been plagued by injuries. Look for Blake to serve at the primary kick returner on Thursday night against the Minnesota Vikings.Los Angeles Rams at Oakland Raiders: Matchups to watch We made it. We finally made it.Now just three days out from gameday the Los Angeles Rams are finalizing their gameplan for the Oakland Raiders. The student, Head Coach Sean McVay, looks to outsmart the teacher, Head Coach Jon Gruden, in a matchup of two California teams in week one on Monday Night Football. The Rams are severely more talented and anyone without a lick of bias can admit to that. With that being said, there are still specific matchups to watch out for as theyll tilt the outcome of the game.Lets have a look at the matchups to watch:RB Todd Gurley vs. MLB Derrick JohnsonGurley is a man amongst boys simply put. After destroying the league last year, look for the Rams running back to start out hot in week one vs the Raiders. The Raiders simply lack speed on the defensive side of the ball, and thatll be exposed by soon-to-be 36-year old linebacker Derrick Johnson. The Rams should run the ball early and often stretching the Raiders defense both vertically and horizontally (outside zone runs). Lastly, the Rams should look to expose Johnson in space by motioning Gurley around and letting him use his open field speed and great catching ability.WR Brandin Cooks vs. CBs Gareon Conley and Rashaan MelvinYou seen this one coming Womens Rodger Saffold Jersey , didnt you?The entire stable of Rams receivers will be dangerous in this game (Robert Woods and Cooper Kupp), so I dont mean to single out Cooks. The best part about the potential for Cooks in this game is his electrifying speed and ability to alter defenders gameplans because of it. If (more like when) the Rams can get their running game going, look for the offense to set up a few playaction deep shots to Cooks (particularly on the post).Rams DL vs. Raiders OLI simply couldnt break this one down. The Raiders will start a rookie first-round pick at LT in Kolton Miller. In base downs, he may get some reps vs DT Aaron Donald. Good luck son. Moving forward, the interior battle is going to be a display of insane talent on both sides. The Raiders interior offensive line is loaded with LG Kelechi Osemele, C Rodney Hudson and RG Gabe Jackson. The Rams trio counters as Donald, Ndamukong Suh and Michael Brockers. This is going to be one hell of a matchup throughout the game. Look for both sides to win some battles.CB Marcus Peters vs. QB Derek CarrPeters has played the Raiders five times in his career; hes registered four pass deflections, two interceptions, and a forced fumble in those games. Peters is a skillful and smart gambler at the cornerback position. Not only that, but he has the most elite ball skills in the NFL today. Carr knows all this as Peters is a former Kansas City Chief a division rival.Look for these two to try and outsmart each other based on their familiarity with each other. Will the young and hungry Rams destined for great things win, or will the old and experienced Raiders best them?I take the Rams in a convincing win. Get ready, week one is coming.

Kent Swansons 45 Seconds on Patrick MahomesI bring this up first because this is something youll need to see before the game. If you havent watched Kents most recent 45 Seconds segment http://www.kansascitychiefsteamonline.com/...n-bailey-jersey , do it right away. Youll be smarter. Youll be able to notice more as you watch the game. And youll enjoy the privilege of gazing upon Kents awesome hair.2. How will the Chiefs left guard position do?The Chiefs had second-year offensive lineman Andrew Wylie listed as their starting left guard when the team released their unofficial depth chart on Monday, but it seemed that plan began to shift as the week went on. Cam Erving signed a contract extension on Tuesday for what we thought at the time was a swing tackle role.Head coach Andy Reid was asked about whether Wylie would start at left guard on Wednesday.Theres a pretty good chance, Reid said. Him and Cam (Erving) are working. By the way, congratulations to Cam on his new deal and it was well deserved. He did a nice job during camp and Cam we have kind of moved all over the place and tried to focus Andrew (Wylie) right in at that guard position. Both will get time on Sunday. Then, on Friday, Wylie told reporters that it would be Erving, not him, starting at the left guard position. So what is the Chiefs plan here? Why does it keep changing? Are they splitting time?Well find out more on Sunday.3. Will the Chiefs really be better against the run? With all the concern about the Chiefs secondary, its important to remember the positive changes on the Chiefs defensive roster since last season. With players like Xavier Williams, Anthony Hitchens and Derrick Nnadi now on the roster, the Chiefs should be more effective at stopping the run. Granted, the Chargers werent a particularly effective team on the ground last season, so theyd better be! And that leads us to...4. Will the Chiefs be able to rattle Philip Rivers?Justin Houston and Dee Ford are both healthy. If the revamped front seven can get more push up the middle, that should lead to more pressure on opposing quarterbacks. And as we have learned with long experience against the Chargers, getting Rivers rattled with constant pressure is a big key to beating him.5. Will the Chargers be able to rattle Patrick Mahomes?Weve seen Mahomes play a bunch of preseason games and one regular-season game that felt a lot like a preseason game. This is going to be different. Its a division game against a talented team with a lot to prove. Its going to get real and were going to learn a lot about our young quarterback.Mahomes, Ive been very impressed with your ability to learn how to be a pro quarterback, but this is where the real test begins.Go get em Authentic Tyreek Hill Jersey , kid.Patrick Mahomes Week 4 film review: exceeding mental and physical expectations This is part two of a three-part weekly film analysis on the performance of Patrick Mahomes. Part one here.Patrick Mahomes continues to make up for Kansas Citys lost time. If you took half of the moments that the young quarterback has given Chiefs fans, the outlook and optimism would continue would not have been altered from the expectations from the summer. Hes busting doors down and exceeding even the highest expectations. Were witnessing an unprecedented arrival.Ive been slow to say that Patrick Mahomes is an NFL Most Valuable Player candidate. There has been enough buzz around the kid to not approach the subject. Leading up to Week 4, the kid had been spectacular. Monday night was even different from that.Mahomes went on the road in a crazy environment, in prime time, target on his back, off historic early season success, largely with talented receiver Sammy Watkins to come from behind in the fourth quarter and will a team through immense adversity. He needed to be rare and he saved some of his best for the biggest moments. All these plays took place in the second half, two of them in the final drive.Something smartMahomes has rare ability to create with his arm talent and out of structure but combining that with the mental game is what is going to allow him to sustain success. The Chiefs are driving early in the third quarter. Its second-and-6 and Kansas City is lined up in a look Mahomes has comfort in: an empty formation. The Chiefs have three receivers to Mahomes left in Travis Kelce, Demarcus Robinson and DeAnthony Thomas. The Broncos have a corner playing off and soft on Thomas, a safety playing 11 yards off and splitting the difference between Robinson and Kelce and stand up EDGE Shane Ray off left tackle Eric Fisher. The Chiefs have numbers and leverage outside of Ray. If Mahomes so chooses, they have the ability to block all three on a slip screen between Fisher, Kelce and Robinson.Mahomes identifies the look and checks to the screen. The quick release he possesses allows him to get the ball on Thomas quick enough to give him time to race pursuing defenders down the field. He runs clean for a gain of 15 yards.Something specialThe first four weeks of the season built up to an exceptional drive you only see from guys named Tom or Aaron.A little over three minutes remain in the game. The Chiefs are down three. Its a critical third-and-5 that would force Andy Reid to face a fourth down decision late. The Chiefs are running a staple of the last two yearsa mesh concept with crossing routes from Kelce and Hill, Conley getting over the ball behind the mesh and a free releasing Spencer Ware. The play can make it difficult on man coverage to work through the crossing routes at the mesh point.Denver is showing pressure, and Mahomes sets the protection into the boundary. The Broncos send six on a zero blitz and have a free rusher to Mahomes front side. He wants to hit Spencer Ware free-releasing out of the backfield, but a defender goes with him. With pressure closing, he bails into the boundary. Mahomes knew he had a crosser working to him. As Von Miller closes on Mahomes, he uses his left hand to throw a ball to Hill for a first down.I cant drink out of a can with my left hand. How about another? A few plays after Mahomes extends the drive with a special play Womens Eric Murray Jersey , the Chiefs have shot themselves in the foot and are facing a second-and-30, now with under three minutes remaining. The Chiefs run a verticals concept, trying to get the majority or all of the yards they need to get a fresh set of downs. No one has time to get open, as Miller beat right tackle Mitchell Schwartz around the edge. Mahomes, in other weeks, might have tried to bounce out the pocket around Miller, but he showed improvement (check back tomorrow) by stepping up to avoid the rush and then escaping to his right. Out of the pocket, Robinson works back towards the sideline and to the quarterback on the scramble. Mahomes is able to outrun defenders and create enough space to throw falling away, on the run and deliver a strike over 30 yards on a rope to turn third down into a much more manageable situation.Mahomes is forcing his way into conversations of the best quarterbacks in the league quicker than I could have ever anticipated. In his fifth game, Mahomes came back to win a game few could. Theres one other person that can make that athletic of a throw from that angle, on the run, with that velocity, in that moment. Hopefully, Mahomes doesnt do any State Farm commercials.

Whenever I watch the New England Patriots http://www.packerscheapshoponline.com/chea...morrison-jersey , I find it striking how often Tom Brady finishes the play on his feet. Brady does take his hits and does get sacked, but on an average Patriots play, the ball is out before the pass rush can even sniff him. Its no secret that the Patriots, from front office to coach to quarterback, are among the smartest teams in the league, and certainly the smartest team of the last decade and a half; so when the Patriots do something different, its worth exploring why. You may think they specialize in quick passes simply because it works, or because it suits Brady, but its actually more complicated and based in economics and football philosophy as much as specific Patriot personnel. The factors underlying the success of the Patriots offense also happen to be the reasons that the Green Bay Packers rallied to beat the Chicago Bears on Sunday night once Aaron Rodgers was hurt. The Quarterback of the Defense and Big BucksIt is NFL orthodoxy that edge rushers (defensive ends or outside linebackers, depending on the defensive scheme) are the most important players on the defense. The underlying theory is that a strong pass rush will disrupt the passing game by reducing the time a quarterback has to throw, causing negative chunk plays via sacks, causing fumbles, and causing errant throws. In theory, edge rushers help out the entire defense by limiting the time that defensive backs need to cover receivers, and causing inaccurate throws. Teams spend a lot of money on good edge rushers (and occasionally on mediocre edge rushers, since its commonly held that having anything worse than average players at the position dooms you). Ziggy Ansah of the Lions is currently being paid 10% of his teams total cap as he was franchised in the offseason, which is second on the team only to quarterback Matthew Staffords 14.5%. Clay Matthews and Nick Perry are two of the five highest-paid Packers this season, taking up 6.2% and 5.9% of the teams cap, respectively. Khalil Mack will be the highest paid player on the Bears for years to come. In the Patriots division, the Miami Dolphins two highest paid players, Robert Quinn and Andre Branch Cheap Jaire Alexander Jersey , are pass-rushing defensive ends. Buffalo defensive end Jerry Hughes is that teams highest paid player, and while things have changed this season, the Jets highest paid player last year, by far, was current Packer Muhammad Wilkerson. You may find it interesting that the highest paid New England edge rusher is Adrian Clayborn, who makes 2.22% of the salary cap, or slightly less than placekicker Stephen Gostkowski. The Super Bowl Champion Eagles highest paid edge rusher is Brandon Graham, at 4.5%. The champs are not breaking the bank at the position. There are a few different ways to deal with opposing edge rushers. Many teams simply attempt to out-talent the defensive line by spending a pretty penny or substantial draft capital on the offensive line, but that has consequences for the rest of your team. If you pay for an elite line, you wont be elite somewhere else. The smart teams, and the Patriots in particular, found an easier, cheaper way.If you throw quickly, the pass rush is irrelevant. Tom Brady is one of the most accurate passers in history, and the Pats loaded up with slot receivers and pass-catching running backs (themselves undervalued assets, at least at the time), in addition to Rob Gronkowski. That created a stable of players who specialize in getting open immediately and generating YAC. Brady is still perfectly capable of throwing a good deep ball, as he proved last season with Brandin Cooks, but they use it sparingly, content to let their opponents edge rushers fire off the line in constant frustration as Brady delivers another strike to James White. Aaron Rodgers and the PackersMike McCarthy is not a tactical play-caller. He relies on the receivers to beat their defenders one-on-one, and for Aaron to find the players who do. Its antiquated Nick Perry Jersey , ineffective except for Rodgers brilliance, and hopefully will change with Joe Philbin back in the organization. Rodgers loves to hold the ball waiting for the big play, and his offensive line has been accommodating for the most part. In 2016 the broken play was one of the best plays the Packers ran. But last season it really wasnt, and since Nelsons ACL injury in 2015 (and without James Jones) their personnel hasnt supported a deep passing game of any kind. Adams and Cobb are very good receivers, but they are are both better as all-around YAC machines. That hasnt stopped Rodgers from holding the ball forever, and in the first half against the Bears this week, that habit was getting him killed as Mack and Akiem Hicks made mincemeat of the line. DeShone Kizer was (obviously) no better, and took hit after hit holding onto the ball far too long, until Mack took it away. Now, its possible that Rodgers would have figured out the Bears after a few series. After all, Mike Pettine made some great adjustments on defense. But I suspect Aaron would have continued with his old habit of holding out for the big strike, waiting, waiting, and allowing Mack the opportunity to earn his money.Everything changed when Rodgers came out for the second half, largely unable to move. Without the ability to extend plays through mobility, Rodgers was forced to throw on time. As one of the greatest quarterbacks in NFL history, he was unsurprisingly good at this, firing dimes into tight windows, hitting brilliant bombs downfield, and offering plenty of opportunities for YAC to Adams, Cobb Blake Martinez Jersey , and Geronimo Allison. He also completely eliminated Mack, Hicks, and Floyd, and millions of dollars of Bear salary cap space that they represent, in the process. While the Bears secondary isnt awful, its much worse than the front seven. Changing the focus of the offense from blocking Khalil Mack to repeatedly targeting Prince Amukamaras backup turned into a winning strategy, and the Bears had no answer for it.It would be nice if this were an intentional strategic change, and it would be nice if McCarthy learned from the experience, but Ill believe that when I see it. For the moment, assuming Rodgers plays, they will be forced to play an offensive style that they are well-equipped to play, that opposing defenses hate, and that capitalizes on league-wide trends of resource allocation. Its just too bad it took an injury to the leagues greatest player to force the Packers offense to finally evolve.Cheese Curds, 9/6: Its Khalil Mack versus the Pack The Green Bay Packers are the first NFC North team up to see how well they can handle the reportedly unblockable linebacker Khalil Mack on the Chicago Bears.Luckily for the Packers they have two of the best pass blocking tackles in David Bakhtiari and Bryan Bulaga. The team invested a ton of money in both players and now theyll be relied on to keep Aaron Rodgers upright against arguably the most fearsome pass rusher the quarterback has faced in his career. This will be a big test for Bulaga in particular since this will be the first regular season game he has played since tearing his ACL last year. Any worries about his skill will either be affirmed or extinguished after facing Mack.Bears defensive lineman Akiem Hicks went on record this week to say he doesnt think the Green Bay offensive line can contain Mack.We shall see. The 2018 season for the Packers is only days away and the offensive line faces a trial by fire in the very first contest. For more on Mack vs The Pack, check out todays cheese curds.Cant be blocked? Womens Jordan Evans JerseyWomens Jordan Evans Jersey , . Flacco and the Ravens offense carved up the Bengals seemingly-tired defense, as Flacco lofted a touchdown pass to John Brown. Baltimore didnt convert the two-point conversion try, though they cut the lead to 28-23. After forcing a Ravens punt, Cincinnati took over and rode Mixon to points once again. The Bengals got into chip-shot distance for Randy Bullock and he hit the field goal to give the Bengals another eight-point lead. On the ensuing drive, Cincinnatis defense forced a third-and-10. Flacco dropped back and was hit by Williams and forced a fumble that was recovered by Jordan Willis. The play got Cincinnati into scoring range and Bullock converted another clutch field goal to give Cincinnati a 34-23 lead.Even though the Bengals had the game in hand, a couple of starters ended up getting nicked up. Dre Kirkpatrick left with what looked like either a hamstring and/or cramping issue, while Williams also left the secondary. Cincinnati held on to the lead for good and defeated the Ravens, 34-23. Third quarter:The Bengals started the second half in a lull, going three-and-out after an Alex Redmond holding penalty. Baltimore moved the ball a little bit, but stalled out. Thankfully for them, they have Justin Tucker as their kicker and he nailed a 55-yard attempt to cut the Bengals lead a little more to 28-17. A stalemate of drives exchanged from both teams, but casualties were again being felt. Mixon left the contest for the second time with a knee issue, as he was seen pacing the sideline. Meanwhile, the Ravens were on the move after being pinned at their own 7-yard line. After a few nice plays, Carlos Dunlap applied pressure and hit Flaccos arm to cause an interception by Shawn Williams.Second quarter:On a third-and-13, the Bengals seemed to finally have been stopped by the Ravens defense, but Terrell Suggs was called for a critical hands-to-the-face penalty for an automatic first down. Green capped off the drive with a hat trick and his third touchdown in one and a half quarters. It looked like Cincinnatis defense once again had the Ravens offense pinned against a corner, but Flacco lofted a prayer of a pass to John Brown, who came down with the ball on a huge gain. On third-and-five, Darqueze Dennard was called for a pass interference penaltyand Javorius Allen shot in for a one-yard touchdown for a 21-7 Bengals lead. Even after taking a jab from the Baltimore offense http://www.thebengalsfootballauthentic.com...ersey-authentic , Cincinnatis crew went back to work. Tyler Boyd was excellent on the drive and capped it off with a touchdown catch on third-and-goal that was very reminiscent of his game-winner against the Ravens in Week 17 last year. With less than three minutes to play, Cincinnati had a 28-7 lead. Both teams exchanged scoreless drives, but the Ravens received the ball and went to work in the two-minute drill. A more-than-questionable 30-yard pass interference penalty put the Ravens in scoring territory. Flacco hit rookie Mark Andrews for a one-yard touchdown score to get the game to 28-14 on a one-yard pass. First quarter:It was a pretty uneventful first series for each team on Thursday night, with both squads showing some signs of nervousness. A.J. Green exuded some butterfingers, while Joe Flacco threw an interception to rookie Jessie Bates to put the Bengals in business for a scoring drive.Green atoned for some errors a few plays later, as Andy Dalton hit him in the back of the end zone for a score. The Bengals took a 7-0 lead with a little over 10 minutes left in the first quarter. The Bengals defense held strong against the Ravens offense, getting the ball back at their own 20-yard line. A 29-yard reception by C.J. Uzomah and two nice plays from Giovani Bernard got Cincinnati back into scoring range. On a third-and-2, Dalton dropped back and hit Green in triple coverage. The Pro Bowl wideout broke through many would be tacklers and headed into the end zone, giving the Bengals a 14-0 lead with about six and a half minutes left in the opening quarter. Joe Mixon briefly left the game with a knee injury, but returned, while Michael Johnson was ruled out with his own knee issue. Billy Price also left the game with an apparent ankle injury.Baltimores offense took the field on the ensuing drive, but went three-and-out. Cincinnati wasted no time in moving down the field once again, thanks to a couple of nice runs by Mixon and a 27-yard catch by Tyler Boyd. As the first quarter concluded, the Bengals were in scoring position on third down once again. *****Before kickoff, the Bengals unveiled their inactive players. Some were surprising on this list, while others were predictable. The inactive Bengals players were:WR Cody CoreOL Cedric OgbuehiWR Auden TateDT Josh TupouLB Preston BrownOL Christian WestermanRB Mark WaltonBrown was nursing an ankle injury he suffered against the Colts and may have played, if this wasnt on a short week. Because of his inactive status, Jefferson gets called up after being sidelined last week. The Bengals and Ravens are sitting at the top of the AFC North after the Steelers and Browns couldnt decide a winner after overtime. The good news is history seems to be on the Bengals side in this Thursday Night Football matchup in Week 2. Cincinnati has won seven of the last nine games against Baltimore, but the dreaded primetime game-time slot that the Bengals struggle with could even the playing field. The Ravens are coming off a laughable game against the Bills to open the season. They easily strolled to a 47-3 victory in a game that never felt like Bills got out of preseason mode. Then again, the Ravens have a habit of starting out the season strong. Last year Youth Andrew Billings Jersey , they shut out the Bengals 20-0 in a game Andy Dalton probably doesnt remember all that well after getting sacked five times. This is a new Bengals team, though. They are fresh off a come from behind win against the Colts. After Indianapolis took a 23-10 lead the Bengals responded with 24 straight points, which included an 83-yard fumble recovery for a touchdown by safety Clayton Fejedelem to seal the game. Joe Mixon was one of the biggest stars as he surpassed 100 yards from scrimmage while also adding a touchdown. He looked unstoppable most of the day, and the is some the Bengals will hope he can repeat Thursday night. How to watch Thursday Night FootballGame: Cincinnati Bengals (1-0) vs Baltimore Ravens (1-0)Date/Time: Sep. 13th, 2018 at 8:20 p.m. EST Location: Paul Brown Stadium, Cincinnati, OHSeries Leader: Series tied at 22-22Streak: The Bengals have won seven of the last nine.Coaches vs. Opponent: Marvin Lewis: (18-12) . Bengals.com adds it looks like an MCL sprain, which is expected to cost him at least a couple of games. Johnson was forced from the Bengals vs. Ravens matchup on Thursday with a left knee injury. The team quickly announced he was out for the rest of the game, a bad sign it was a significant injury. It occurred in the first quarter with about six minutes remaining. The Bengals had Carlos Dunlap, Carl Lawson, Jordan Willis and Sam Hubbard active in the game at defensive end Youth Shawn Williams Jersey , so they were able to hold on the for the win and kept terrorizing Joe Flacco all night. Hubbard actually played very well with extended playing time, so Johnsons absence shouldnt have a big impact. The rookie had his first sack of his NFL career on Thursday night. The news is a little better with Billy Price, who was knocked out of the game in the first half with what Marvin Lewis is calling a foot strain. After the game, Hubbard, a college teammate of Prices, had a positive injury update on his fellow Buckeye.Yeah, weve got a lot of banged-up guys, and these 10 days (will help). I was talking to Billy (Price), and 10 days is all he needs, said Hubbard. Were just excited to get these guys back that are a little banged up.On Friday morning, Lewis said it was a foot strain for Price and the head coach actuallysaid he would have been surprised he couldnt come back in an emergency on Thursday after he was pumping up the crowd when he was walking off, per Katherine Terrell. The injury happened on a run late in the first quarter in which Price appeared to have his foot stepped on. He was down after the play before trainers came out on the field to examine him. He eventually got up and walked gingerly to the sideline for further testing. With him out, Trey Hopkins took over at center and played quite well. Hopkins had been in a battle for the right guard spot he ultimately lost to Alex Redmond, but part of that was because the Bengals wanted Hopkins ready to come off the bench to play right guard or center. There is no one else on the roster whos gotten significant snaps at center in the NFL.In his Friday press conference, Lewis confirmed neither Johnson nor Prices injuries are season-ending. It sounds like Price should be healed up fully soon, maybe even for Week 3 against the Panthers. Were not sure right now. Its just a matter of how long it takes for them to heal, Lewis said of the injuries. Weve got a little longer time this week until our next game, so both guys will get an opportunity (to recover) and well see how they come back.

Zach Ertz went out wide in the formation in yet another play-calling twist by Philadelphia coach Doug Pederson Marqise Lee Jersey , facing one-on-one coverage from New England safety Devin McCourty with the Patriots leading the Eagles by one point late in the fourth quarter of the Super Bowl. Ertz cut inside on a slant pattern, causing McCourty to stumble and trail the route, and moved into perfect position to catch the pass from Nick Foles and launch his body across the goal line with 2:21 left .

The NFLs frequently contested and often confusing process-of-the-catch rule left some doubt for the Eagles, with a nerve-wracking wait for the replay review to confirm the touchdown before the Eagles were officially in the lead.

Theres no mystery about this, though: Ertz has turned himself into one of the leagues elite tight ends.

He just really had a solid year, all the way around, right tackle Lane Johnson said. He really improved on his blocking this offseason, took a lot of things to heart. Just became a better football player, man, and caught that touchdown there at the end. I just couldnt be happier for him. He works his tail off.

Ertz had seven catches for 67 yards to help Foles and the Eagles outlast the Patriots 41-33 in a Super Bowl that featured the most combined yardage gained in the history of the NFL in the modern era.

The most important of the nine times Foles threw his way was that play that culminated with the ball popping up in the air after Ertz landed on the green Eagles paint in the end zone.

Ertz caught it on the ricochet, but the key for the legality of the play was going to be whether he turned himself into a runner before crossing the plane or if he was still in the process of making the catch. The former was the ruling.

That seemed like an eternity over there. I mean, if they overturn that, I dont even know whats a catch anymore, Ertz said.

I had three steps in the ground. I extended for it. My back leg dragged on the ground. The city of Philly wouldve been hot if theyd have overturned that. Luckily for our city they did not.

With a career-high eight touchdown catches with 824 receiving yards in 14 games during the regular season, Ertz came through with the kind of performance that he needed after a trying year for both him and the team in 2016.

During a December defeat that season in Cincinnati Mark Scheifele Jersey , Pederson said afterward that not all of his players gave maximum effort. Ertz was caught on camera sliding through a pair of Bengals defenders , including hard-hitting linebacker Vontaze Burfict, during one play while quarterback Carson Wentz scrambled out of bounds.

I never really shied away from that situation I had to endure. There were some people that would say it was definitely just. It was tough. I love that the fans never gave up on me, Ertz said. I told them at the time that they would never question my effort again, and Im lucky to be in this situation playing for this city, and I never take it for granted.

With Rob Gronkowski on the other side, Ertz was automatically going to be the bridesmaid tight end in this game , despite his emergence as one of the NFLs best.

Now Ertz will not only have the Super Bowl ring that Gronkowski already possessed in double, but hell be able to catch up in the trophy case at home. His wife, Julie Ertz, has a World Cup championship from 2015 for the U.S. national soccer team . They were married last March.

Shes just so happy for me, Ertz said, adding: Our marriage is extremely strong even though were pulled in 1,000 different directions.
